Safety Meeting

Seeking Safety

First Pres will be hosting a meeting about safety on Wednesday, January 16 at 1 p.m. in Fireside Lounge.

Officer Gary Jacobs from the San Bernardino City Police Department will be here to offer suggestions and answer questions you might have.

Officer Jacobs writes:
For about the last 10 of my close to 20 years here at the Police Department, I’ve been involved in “crime prevention.” I’ll use one of many definitions, to my mind the simpler, the better: Crime prevention is the attempt to reduce victimization and to deter crime and criminals. …There are patterns to the way home burglars work, say, how they enter, what they look for and who they are. A home security checklist can go a long way to prevent this activity, though I want to emphasize, advertising to the contrary, you can’t “burglar proof” your house. On the other hand, we know if some potential burglar can be delayed entry, he’ll go onto an easier target.

Everyone is welcome. Please let the church office know if you plan to attend so we know how many to set up for.
