Prayers in the Wilderness Day 25

Today’s Quiet Day at FPCSB will focus on the Lord’s Prayer. Whether or not you can come to the chapel at 9:00, join us as we pray the prayer Jesus taught his friends. We offer several versions of this familiar prayer.

Traditional

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom
and the power and the glory, forever.
Amen.

The Message

Our Father in heaven,
Reveal who you are.
Set the world right;
Do what’s best–as above, so below.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.
You’re in charge!
You can do anything you want!
You’re ablaze in beauty!
Yes. Yes. Yes.

the Casa del Sol Prayer of Jesus

Ground of all being,
Mother of life, Father of the universe,
Your name is sacred, beyond speaking.
May we know your presence,
may your longings be our longings in heart and in action.
May there be food for the human family today
and for the whole earth community.
Forgive us the falseness of what we have done
as we forgive those who are untrue to us.
Do not forsake us in our time of conflict
but lead us into new beginnings.
For the light of life, the vitality of life, and the glory of life
are yours now and for ever.
Amen.

Spanish

Padre Nuestro,
que estás en los cielos,
santificado sea tu nombre.
Venga a nosotros tu reino,
Amen.
